JR Tempo Foods: Technology for a New Standard in Dried Fruit Quality

04.11.2026

Drawing on more than two decades of experience in fruit production, freezing, processing, and packaging, JR Tempo Foods has developed a new technological process. With the aim of transforming frozen fruit into a dried product with consistent quality and an appropriate shelf life, the company developed its own fruit-drying system.

The company chose osmotic drying as the basis for the process, which required the development of specialised technological equipment. The goal was to adapt this method to its production conditions and technical requirements, ensuring greater control over fruit processing.

“We decided to use osmotic drying and developed an innovative system for this purpose, enabling us to transform frozen fruit into a dried product suitable for consumption and with an appropriate shelf life,” explains Radmilo Jovanović of JR Tempo Foods.

One of the main challenges was integrating the different processing stages into a single production process and automating them. The newly developed equipment provides greater control over production and better coordination between individual stages, contributing to more efficient fruit processing.

“The machine is largely automated and enables continuous operation. This allows us to achieve significantly better and more consistent product quality compared with other operating methods,” says Jovanović.

For a company serving customers across different markets, the ability to maintain consistent product quality from one production cycle to the next is particularly important. At the same time, the new system provides a foundation for further expansion of production capacity and improvements in processing efficiency.

The project was implemented with support from the Innovation Fund, with funding provided by the European Union. Combined with the company's own co-financing, this support enabled it to develop and implement its technological concept in accordance with the specified requirements.

“The Innovation Fund helped us finally fully implement a project that had largely remained at the idea stage. With the Fund’s support and our own co-financing, we were able to implement the system at full capacity and in accordance with the technical requirements,” Jovanović emphasises.

Its proprietary osmotic drying technology has opened up new opportunities for JR Tempo Foods to improve its production operations. Further development will focus on increasing the efficiency of the equipment and adapting it to future production needs, allowing the company to continue strengthening its technological capabilities in fruit processing.
