Cooperation between the University of Defence in Belgrade and the Innovation Fund

The University of Defence in Belgrade is the fourth public higher education institution that has joined the Technology Transfer Facility implemented by the Innovation Fund. In the presence of Minister of Innovation and Technological Development Nenad Popović, the Cooperation Agreement under this programme was signed by Major General, Prof. Mladen Vuruna PhD, Rector of the University of Defence in Belgrade and Ivan Rakonjac PhD, Director of the Innovation Fund.

The agreement between the Fund and the University defines cooperation in the area of capacity development for applied scientific and research work, innovation, technology transfer and commercialisation. The Technology Transfer Facility Program provides support to public scientific and research institutions in Serbia for further development of research with commercial potential, in order to find partners from the private sector and place the innovation on the market.

“The Technology Transfer Facility Program helps young professionals at universities, faculties and innovation centers to market innovative products that they develop. In this way the Serbian government provides strong support to employment and keeping young engineers in Serbia”, stressed Nenad Popović, Minister of Innovation and Technological Development

“Scientific and research activity is very important for the University of Defence. It is important for us to preserve quality in the field of scientific research in the future, because in this way we will preserve the quality of the University of Defence”, said Major General Prof. Mladen Vuruna PhD, Rector of the University of Defence in Belgrade.

Thanks to the Technology Transfer Facility Program, researchers with the University of Defence in Serbia have the opportunity to get full support in one place to present the results of their innovative projects to the market”, said Ivan Rakonjac, Director of the Innovation Fund.

So far under this programme, the Fund has signed three cooperation agreements with the University of Belgrade, the University of Niš and the University of Novi Sad. Seven projects received financial support for innovative development projects for an amount of 12.76 million dinars.

The Technology Transfer Facility Program is being implemented under the project “Serbia Research, Innovation and Technology Transfer Project”, which is financed by the EU IPA 2013, which aims to stimulate cooperation between the academic and private sectors in order to commercialise scientific and research results and improve technology transfer.
